In 2001 Walker Newman and Associates assisted DoE in the technical evaluation of carrier services for the Education to Community (e2c) network. This included evaluation of;

In 2003, under subcontract to RSM Bird Cameron, Walker Newman assisted in the evaluation of Networking Community Funding/Networking WA (NCF/NWA) tender responses leading to the establishment of wideband IP based data services for Education and Health facilities in regional WA.

Walker Newman have provided resources to WMC since 1998 to;

Undertake strategic planning of the voice network.

Instigate, develop and manage infrastructure projects.

Develop and maintain communications standards.

Provide consultancy services to WMC Operations.

Work to date has included;

Preparation of annual network development plans.

Review of sale and lease back options for PABX equipment.

Establishment of group umbrella maintenance contract for PABX and private transmission systems.

A number of new PABX and PABX relocation projects.

Design and project management of a voice network cost reduction project. The WMC network now operates with 8 kbps voice compression and full PABX signalling.

Project management of a VoIP trial.

Project management of a WAP trial.

Project management of communications for a number of new offices and office closures.

Preparation of proposal for data network cost reduction project.

Preparation of RFP's for telephony, data and mobile services. Evaluation of responses. Management of Optus OPI private IP network trials.

Walker Newman have supplied a contract IT Infrastructure Manager since February 2001. We are responsible for all aspects of;

IT Infrastructure environment, eg servers, security.

Communications systems and services.

Projects including addition and removal of sites and subsidiary companies on/off the Newmont network.

International communications.

Walker Newman and Associates prepared RFP's and evaluated responses for telephone, data and mobile phone services for PNCS.

Walker Newman have undertaken a number of telephone system audits for Optus and Macquarie. These audits involved;

Physical identification and testing of telephone services.

Review of billing.

Development of WAN diagrams.

Walker Newman and Associates are contracted to Woodside to engineer the following systems for the Enfield FPSO;

Ship to shore microwave system.

LAN, WAN and VoIP telephony system.

Entertainment system.

Walker Newman and Associates were subcontracted to Honeywell to undertake the complete detailed design of the communication systems for the Woodside Laminaria project. This included providing voice, data and video communications to a vessel operating 500kms North West of Darwin in the Timor Sea. The work included;

The development of specifications and tendering for the ship to shore link, public address, PABX, entertainment, UHF/VHF radios, radio console system, GMDSS, DC power supplies and paging systems.

The development of factory acceptance and commissioning test procedures for all communications equipment. Undertaking the supervision of the factory acceptance testing.

Site supervision of the installation and commissioning of all communications systems in Korea and Singapore.

Walker Newman and Associates have provided engineering assistance to Worley Engineering for the Chevron Thailand Benchamas field expansion. The work has included;

Design of communications systems for voice, data and telemetry communications between the central facility and eight unmanned well head platforms.

Preparation of Bill of Materials and contractor scope of works.

Factory testing.

BHP Petroleum contracted Walker Newman and Associates to design the ship to shore communications and entertainment services for their latest FPSO the Buffalo Venture.

The work undertaken includes design, preparation of CTR's, procurement management, interface management, factory acceptance testing and on site supervision.

In addition provide advice and recommendations on other communication issues as they arise.

Clough contracted Walker Newman and Associates to manage the design, installation and commissioning of communications for the onshore Sawan project in Pakistan.

Worley contracted Walker Newman and Associates to manage the design of communications for the JVPC Rang Dong Project in Vietnam.

KBR contracted Walker Newman and Associates to assist with the FEED study and preparation of the Communications Philosophy and budget estimate for the BP Muriah Kepodang Project in Indonesia.

Sally Malay contracted Walker Newman and Associates to manage the design and provision of communications for the greenfields Sally Malay mine in the Kimberley's area of WA.

SMD contracted Walker Newman and Associates to project manage the provision of satellite based communications for the Lero mine in Guinea, West Africa. This project included the provision of satellite services, installation of a structured internal and external cabling system, installation of a new Windows 2003 Exchange server, firewall, etc, and provsion of a PABX system.

Walker Newman and Associates have provided a resource to manage the communications and IT infrastructure requirements of Newmont Mining's Australian operations since January 2001.

Walker Newman and Associates were asked to provide an independent engineering and commercial assessment of the VSAT communications provided to the Sepon Project in Laos.

Walker Newman and Associates were asked to engineer and manage the provision of all communications for the Gindalbie Gold Minjar project.

PTA and New Metro Rail have contracted Walker Newman and Associates to:

Manage the upgrade of the CSA/Security radio system to a common receive frequency voting system.

Review specifications for the Westrail Backbone Communications Project.

Undertake radio design works for preparation of specifications and scopes of work for the northern suburbs extension, south west metro rail development and Thornlie Spur.

Prepare specifications and scopes of work for the upgrade/replacement of the base station network controller and radio console systems.

Prepare tender specifications for telephone and associated voice systems service and support.

Undertake detailed engineering of radio and bearer system changes associated with the Thornlie Spur.
