Aaron Sommerville

17 years experience with a Mechanical trade background. Has worked in Alumina refining, gas pipeline, nickel processing, marine, heavy vehicle and rail maintenance industries. Since 2004 Aaron has worked as a site safety coordinator/trainer, ERT member/trainer and senior safety advisor across several operational and construction sites. Since February 2011 with WNA. Currently full time in a Contract Management Supervisor (CMS) role within the Rio Tinto IS&T group.
   

Allan Miller

25 years experience in hands on IT and computing work including 17 years with Robe River Iron Associates. Level 3 support skills in Windows 2000, XP Professional, VMWare, Acronis, Active Directory, MS Exchange and associated server and desktop products. Full time on Western Areas IT & comms support.
   

Ben Raven

Diploma of Project Management 2009. 17 years telecommunications industry experience with Telstra. Including 14 years as comms technician and 3 years as WA radio team manager with project manager functionality of various telecommunication systems; PDH & SDH point to point microwave, Next G mobiles RBS, CAN radio, Via Sat satellite systems and structure maintenance programs. Joined WNA in August 2011 and currently full time on BHPBIO Goldsworthy main line communications upgrade project.

 

Bob Millman

M Sc (Electrical Engineering) 1988. B Eng (Electronic) 1977. 27 years experience including project management, contract management, site supervision, design, specifications for a broad range of telecoms activities. Recent projects include CEJV/BHP Iron Ore RGP5 project.  Currently full time in  a senior engineering role in Rio Tinto IS&T group.
 

Brett McInerney

B. Eng (Communications) 1998. Experience in a wide range of telecommunications systems including TCP/IP routing and switching, Fibre-to-the-home, SDH & PDH optical fibre networks, hybrid fibre & copper cable networks, VHF, UHF, microwave radio, land mobile radio (including P25 digital), wireless LAN, satellite communications, alarm and network monitoring. Joined WNA in October 2010 and currently working with Lycopodium on the Akyem project. Previously worked for 4 years with BHPBIO and prior to this with SKM, Skilled, Computer Sciences Corporation, Transfield, NDC and Allied Technologies in various engineering roles.
 

Campbell Hall

B. Eng (1985). Post Grad Diploma of Project Management (2001). 20 years with Telstra including 8 years as Manager WA Customer Project Management Office and 5 years as WA Corporate Service Director, Business and Government Business Unit. Since March 2005 with WNA in project engineering roles including lead telecoms engineer for Lycopodium Newmont projects in Ghana and Ansaldo Signal FMG project. Currently on full time commitment to CEJV for the BHPB Iron Ore RGP5/RGP6 project communications design.
 

Conrad Bastian

B. Sc (Physics, 1995), B. Eng (Electrical & Electronic, FC Hons, 1997), Adv Dip Project Management (2007). Electronic Engineer & Project Manager with 13 years experience in the design and construction of IP, SDH, PDH and DWDM optic fibre networks, 3G cellular networks, RF systems, and point-to-point wireless networks. Management and engineering of a wide range of projects for Telstra, NewMetroRail, WestNetRail, Water Corporation, Alstom, Amcom, BHPB, and Rio Tinto.   Joined WNA in April 2011. For the previous 4 years led a group of 90 design and construction staff in Telstra’s Network Construction business unit, responsible for WA Mobiles, Transmission, Broadband and FTTP deployments.
 

Conroy Whitebrook

ICT Consultant with over 25 years Telecommunications and Information Systems experience in Mining, Oil & Gas, Government and commercial sectors. Lead Communications Engineer, non-process infrastructure BHP Billiton RGP 5 (KBR) & 6 (GHD) and Chevron’s Gorgon project (Kentz). Business Development Manager, Satellite Appliance Sales (SAS). ICT Contract Manager (HR systems), Department of Education and Training (DET). ICT Project Manager (PMbok) at Unisys West for Bank West eastern states expansion project. ICT Project Manager (Prince2), Department of Education and Training, remote education via satellite (front and back-end delivery systems). Communications equipment designer and manufacturer, Jtec, Sales Support and field Engineer. Currently full time with SKM Expansion Projects Team.
 

Davide Ciotti

20 years with Robe River Iron Associates/North Ltd including two years as Manager IT (1997-1999), and 12 months as IT Technology Advisor (2000). Since 2001 with WNA. From 2001-2006 on full time contract to Normandy/Newmont Mining. Project management for CP Mining IT group supplied communications for the Cape Preston Mining Project completed April 08. Project management of comms for the Oxiana Prominent Hill project.   Currently overseeing ICT Management for Western Areas.
 

Dan Wilbanks

20 years industry experience working with International and domestic based organisations and client bases such as Disney, FedEx, Airtran Airlines and Office Depot.  Microsoft certified MCSE - Exchange, ISA, Server and SQL.  Novell certified - CNE, ECNE and Master CNE.  Seven years US Navy Electronics Technician. IT and network Infrastructure management, maintenance and troubleshooting, with Microsoft AD, network security, VOIP, mobile connectivity (Blackberry & iPhone), VPN, Terminal Server and related sub systems experience.

 

Elie Daniel

BSc (Hons) (1980). 29 years experience including 13 years with WMC Resources. Since August 2004 with WNA managing IP telephony project and redesign of perimeter network for the Department of Land Information, technical architect for WA Government Office of Shared Services LAN & WAN, redesign of BHP Billiton Petroleum CBD building communications cabling infrastructure, specialist engineer for the Gorgon LNG project telephony, LAN, WAN & Data Centre IT infrastructure, managing a multi site IP telephony project and redesign of LAN & WAN for Wilson Group, managing IP telephony project for Perth Airport and telecommunications engineer for the Woodside Cossack Pioneer vessel refurbishment. Data networking specialist. Full time on Gorgon project.
 

Graeme Busch

Technician, 1979. 33 years experience in Telecommunications within New Zealand carriers, Aussat and Optus. Extensive experience in IP WAN and LAN networks, carrier services and voice network products. Commenced with WNA in February 2008. Work undertaken for Landgate (metro WAN design), BHPB Petroleum (Pyrenees FPSO LAN design, Macedon comms study), Swan Catchment Council (Telco & IT plan), BHPBIO (rail asset protection network architecture study) and Woodside Pluto (LAN/WAN design and telecoms temporaries), and FMG Christmas Creek Stockyard LAN/WAN design.   Currently full time on Woodside NR2 project in Korea.
 

Graeme Tebbit

B Sc (Hons) 1976. Grad Dip Computing (Dist) 1986. 25+ years experience in IS and IT&C management, contract development/management, projects, operations. 24 years of this with WMC Resources. 2 years with Woodside. Since August 2006 with WNA for KJV Gorgon project, BHPB Technology IT management, BHPB NiW IT services transition project, Asia Iron definitive cost study for Extension Hill project. Full time on Gorgon project.
 

Greg Kane

RAAF Radio Technician Diploma with 9 years HF and Satellite communications experience.  34 years post military experience in radio and telecommunications.  SInce January 2010 with WNA.  Projects include BHPB Iron Ore Goldsworthy Main Line communications definition phase study,  private mobile radio selection phase study for mining Area C and Newman Joint Venture mines, and radio options study for Woodside Karratha Gas Plant.
 

Howard Christensen

Dip of Mechanical Engineering. Radio trade trained. 40 years experience in operations, maintenance, installation, design, project engineering, commissioning of communications systems, predominantly in the offshore oil & gas industry. Specialist technical knowledge in PA, radio (HF, VHF, UHF), GMDSS, radar, marine systems, microwave, multiplex, PABX, CCTV, VSAT, power supplies, etc. Recent projects include Woodside Pluto project onshore construction communications and Karara site communications supervision. Currently full time in a contract manager/supervisor role in Rio Tinto IS&T group.
 

John Churchill

NZCE Telecommunication (1968) (NZ equivalent HNC UK), REA (NZ), ISA Senior member, BICSI RCDD . 41 years industry experience in all facets of Telecomms & Electronic systems. Extensive work in the Oil and Gas and mining sectors, including work in NZ, Australia, Africa and Saudi Arabia.   Responsibilities ranged from engineering investigations, FEED, detailed design, project management, commissioning and operations management.  Systems experience includes copper and fibre cable distribute networks, RF systems HF through to Microwave, satellite, telecommunications towers, power systems, SCADA & Telemetry systems, PA/GA, voice and data networks, navigation aids and meteorological & oceanographic systems.  Most recently 4 years as lead telecoms engineer for the Chevron Gorgon project.  Commenced with WNA September 2010.

 

Mark Thompson

Radio trade trained (Dept of Aviation) and Diploma of Electronic Engineering.  20 years+ experience in the radio and telecommunications field including 12 years+ on site in the Pilbara.  Has worked for GEC, Motorola, ADI, Memo & BHPBIO in technical, supervisor and superintendent roles.  Joined WNA in April 2010 to work on BHPBIO RGP6 project as lead telecoms engineer.
 

Moin Majid

Project Manager who is Prince2 and ITIL certified. 20 years experience including managing Windows, Unix, Mainframe and Network based projects in the retail, manufacturing, financial and resource sectors across the UK, Europe and Western Australia. Since July 2007 contracted to BHP Billiton Nickel West on IT services transition project, WAN upgrade project and infrastructure projects. Full time on Rio Tinto PMO projects.
 

Peter van Hyum

 

Electrical trade trained and an ACMA Registered Cabler with 19 years in underground mining to Shift Supervisor level. From 1990 has been mainly involved in IT and Telecommunications at WMC Resources Kambalda Nickel operations, 1998-2001 as IT Superintendent for WMC Queensland Fertiliser Operations and from 2001-2004 as WMC Manager Desktop Sustain.  Since October 2004 with WNA as project engineer/coordinator on a range of communications and IT infrastructure projects.

 

Rex Walker

B Sc (Electronic Engineering).   45 years communications experience including 22 years with PMG/Telecom, 3 years with Unilab and 20 years contracting.  Since 1990 predominantly focussed on oil & gas telecoms including lead & senior roles on Goodwyn, Wandoo B, Laminaria, Shell EA, BP/AIOC Azeri, Enfield, SEIC Sakhalin.  Currently contracted to Woodside on the NR2 project.

 

Rick Newman

B. Eng (1981). Ten years on north west shelf project and five years with WMC Resources before starting Walker Newman and Associates in 1995. Telecommunications strategic consulting, project management, communications infrastructure design, radio, PABX.
 

Rod Bushell

Assoc Diploma of Applied Science. 21 years experience including GR Services and Ericsson. (Ericsson subsequently became Converged Networks and then Telstra Business Systems.) Extensive knowledge of cabling, PABX systems and microwave. Since November 2007 with WNA working on BHPBIO RGP5 and RGP6 projects.
 

Royce McLennan

Technician (Australian Army), 1983-1989. 24 years experience including Call Centres, PABX, microwave, cellular networks, DWDM optic fibre systems. Has worked with HBOS, Communications Australia, Ericsson (Australia, USA, Vietnam, Austria, Sweden). Since November 2007 with WNA working on BHPBIO RGP5 project.
 

Shaun Mellowship

B Bus (Information Processing) (1984), CGEIT (2009), Prince 2 Practitioner (2006), ITIL (2003), MCSE.   Over 20 years experience in IT consulting in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, London.  Recent work includes Information Security Manager, Landgate, 2005-09 and Senior PM for ASG, 2009-10.  Since June 2010 with WNA.  Currently engaged by Rio Tinto.

 

Stuart Buckland

25 years experience encompassing Technical Project Management, Communications architecture and business solutions advisory, Management-Technical liaison,  CRM,  Event management, Logistics planning, Business Development, Business process & case analysis,  Management & Team Leadership, Financial Accounting & Budgeting, Aircraft Maintenance Systems & Management. Since June 2011 with WNA. Currently engaged on BHPBIO communications/asset protection project.  Qualifications: Advanced Certificate in Electronics (Communications), B.Bus (Accounting/IS), A.Dip Admin Studies, PRINCE2 (Practitioner).

 

Terry Hodgman

B.Bus (2001), Communications Technical Officer, ACMA Registered Cabler. 35 years experience in the communications industry including 31years with Telecom/Telstra as a Technical Officer and Team Manager covering a wide range of equipment-small capacity radio systems, solar power installation and maintenance, data cabling design and installation, equipment maintenance programs, PABX and Small business systems, Satellite broadband, PDH/SDH Transmission equipment. 3 years with BHPIO Communications working on transmission & mobile radio systems and railway asset protection equipment. Joined WNA in August 2011 and currently engaged on BHPIO communications/asset protection projects.
