Ben Raven

Diploma of Project Management 2009. 17 years telecommunications industry experience with Telstra. Including 14 years as comms technician and 3 years as WA radio team manager with project manager functionality of various telecommunication systems; PDH & SDH point to point microwave, Next G mobiles RBS, CAN radio, Via-sat satellite systems and structure maintenance programs. Joined WNA in August 2011 and was responsible for the successful implementation and commissioning of telecoms systems for the BHPBIO Goldsworthy Main Line (rail). 
Currently full time with Woodside in the Digital Field Services Projects team on a range of brownfields projects.

Brian Dunne

Track record in providing design, implementation, testing and documentation for both software and hardware applications. Many years of project managing both projects and personnel with a track record of timely and under cost delivery of completed systems. Knowledge and experience of Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition, Remote Telemetry Units, Programmable Logic Controllers, WAN, LAN, PAGA, Audio Visual Systems, Intrusion Detection Systems, Access Control Systems, CCTV, Human Machine Interfaces, Network Management Systems, Telephony, Microwave, Fire detection, Fire Suppression, Radar and Tetra Radio.

Electronic Engineer & Project Manager with 13 years experience in the design and construction of IP, SDH, PDH and DWDM optic fibre networks, 3G cellular networks, RF systems, and point-to-point wireless networks. Management and engineering of a wide range of projects for Telstra, NewMetroRail, WestNetRail, Water Corporation, Alstom, Amcom, BHPB, and Rio Tinto. Joined WNA in April 2011. Work has included radio design activities for Chevron, BHP Billiton, Atlas Iron and accommodation village telecoms design for Chevron. Currently full time with Woodside in the Digital Projects team on a range of brownfields projects.

Daniel Gibbs

Employed in various positions from Technician, Supervisor, Engineer up to Service Delivery and Project Manager Roles. Versed in technologies just as SDH/PDH Transmission systems, DWDM, Tele-protection Signalling, Ethernet networks, PABX’s, AC/DC Power Systems, RF Solutions (LTE, PTP Microwave, UHF, VHF), Structured Cabling. Good understanding of both Maintenance and Project based works. Full lifecycle of Projects from concept to close-out and have engaged either directly or indirectly with organisations such as Telecom NZ, Western Power, Equinix, Shell, Ericsson, Nokia, VHA, Telstra, Rio Tinto, FMG, BHP.

David Green

Thirty (30) years onshore and offshore telecommunications maintenance experience with service companies such as AWA Electronics, Navcom Electronics, Darwin utilities (PAWA, NT Electricity Commission) and with MARCOMM for 13 years, predominantly supporting and servicing multiple operators in the offshore O&G industry. Experienced in the installation and servicing of systems such as Radars, Echo Sounders, Autopilots, Gyrocompasses, HF, VHF and UHF transceivers, PAGA systems, Aviation headsets, HF radio systems, HF, VHF and UHF Antennas, SATCOM equipment, EPIRBs, GPS Receivers, NDB systems, PBX systems, ROV systems and marine instrumentation. Three (3) years as an ROV Pilot Technician and Subsea Tooling Technician/Supervisor working in the O&G industry. Davide Ciotti

20 years with Robe River Iron Associates/North Ltd including two years as Manager IT (1997-1999), and 12 months as IT Technology Advisor (2000). Since 2001 with WNA. From 2001-2006 on full time contract to Normandy/Newmont Mining. Project management for CP Mining IT group supplied communications for the Cape Preston Mining Project completed April 08. Project management of comms for the Oxiana Prominent Hill project. Has ‘General Manager’ role within WNA besides overseeing various works including ICT Management for Western Areas and WNA involvement in Atlas Iron projects.

Don Swanson

PRINCE 2 Project Management with over 20 years’ experience as an electronic and telecommunications specialist working in the resources, energy and maritime sectors. Experience on a number of different systems; CCTV, Access Control, Analogue/DMR/Tetra Radio systems, Radio Console, Paging Networks, PAGA, VSAT & TVRO Communication Systems and Core Network/WIFI infrastructure.
Since moving to Australia in 2010, worked on multiple large scale Oil and Gas projects as a Field Engineer overseeing the construction of the telecommunication packages on Wheatstone LNG Plant and commissioning supervisor successfully handing over the INPEX LNG plant to Operations in 2018. Since 2018, managing a radio communication company in the Northern Territory servicing Oil and Gas, Mining, Government and Construction Industries with both small and large scale projects including maintenance of the Santos assets at Darwin LNG and Bayu Undan facilities. Moved to Perth and joined WNA in 2021 and currently engaged in multiple Santos WA brownfields projects.

25 years in the electrical and communications construction, installation and maintenance industry, with 15 years in the Energy sector (Mining & Oil and Gas) in Onshore & Offshore roles throughout Australia and Timor, in both onshore and offshore roles. Extensive SAP Campaign Maintenance Planning experience from Resourcing to Close-out .
Various positions including Technician, Team Leader, Supervisor and Project Planning Lead and Coordination/Planning Roles with operators such as; Maersk, Apache (Santos), Woodside, Chevron, Vermillion, UPS & Inpex. Also worked on Industrial Tunnel and Public Rail Projects for Metronet in the Perth CBD, including Perth underground & suburban train station installations. Experienced in a wide range of Construction & Maintenance activities. Cert III in Telecommunications, Restricted Electrical Licence (WA), with 11 years Oil & Gas Operations experience as a Telecommunication Technician, with hands-on experience in the installation, commissioning and maintenance of multiple telecommunication systems for Chevron, Inpex, ConocoPhillips, Woodside and BP Offshore and Onshore facilities.
Experienced in most Communications systems used in Maritime, Oil & Gas facilities, including UHF/VHF radio, Radar, Meteorological Systems, PAGA, Mustering Systems, LAN/WAN, CCTV, Satellite systems and Microwave links.
Joined WNA in October 2019 and embedded full time in the Shell Prelude Telecommunications  Maintenance team.

Greg Kane

A trained RAAF Radio Technician with 9 years of military experience. Has 40 years post military experience in radio and telecommunication system maintenance, design, installation and commissioning. With WNA since January 2010 providing consulting services to major government, petro-chemical and mining companies in migrating their radio communication needs from legacy analogue to state-of-the-art digital radio communication systems. Technical writing specialist for development of scopes, specifications, tender documents, and project management, maintenance & training plans for new digital radio systems.

Henry Chan

MIEAust, CPEng, Dip (Electronic 1981), BEng (Electronic,1986), MBA (1993). 34 years of professional engineering experience (21 years in oil & gas) preceded by six years of sub-professional technician experience. Previous employment includes Woodside Energy, Airservices Australia, Department of Defence and Hamersley Iron (now Rio Tinto). In-depth knowledge and design/execution skills of mission critical telecommunications infrastructure and operational communications systems, including transport (OSI Layer 1), IP networks (Layer 2 & 3), VOIP, radio, PAGA, CCTV, VSAT, radar, microwave, structured cabling etc.. Conversant with engineering and project management methodologies typically used in the hydrocarbon industry. Performed Telecommunications Discipline Technical Authority role in last employment including standard setting and governance roles. In addition to technical skills, also possess relevant financial management skills and business acumen for technology assessment and business case development. Joined WNA in Apr 2020. Available for short term consultancy assignment work.

Joined WNA October 2019 and currently embedded in Shell Telecommunications Maintenance team in a dual shared role of Plant Maintenance Scheduler and Campaign Technician.

Leigh Crawford

15 years’ experience across the Mining, Oil & Gas, Rail and Infrastructure Sectors in roles including Project Engineer, Project Manager and Area Lead, covering Green and Brownfield Projects and Operations & Maintenance.

Luke Coleman

Formerly with Kentz (SNC Lavalin) on both the Gorgon (Chevron) and Ichthys (INPEX) Onshore projects including a 1 year secondment providing commissioning support to the Ichthys EPC, JKC Australia.
Responsibilities during this time cover the entire project lifecycle from estimating, to FEED, procurement, FAT, systems integration, construction, commissioning and project closeout.
Communications systems experience includes LAN/WAN, PABX, Microwave, CCTV, VSAT, FOIDS and PA/GA with exposure to Radio systems, including TETRA.

Mike Halasz

Fifteen (15) years plus onshore and offshore Oil and Gas experience with Apache, BHP Petroleum, Chevron, Woodside and others. Excellent technical communication skills & understanding of applicable standards, safety and O&G industry processes and related requirements. Aviation industry system equipment experience, including bench testing & fault finding in aeronautical and other systems. Has worked for Miri Technologies, Thales, Motherwell Automation, Kentz/SNC Lavalin. After joining WNA in July 2012 Mike has worked on numerous telecom and IT projects embedded with our major clients including CSBP (TETRA radio system implementation), Woodside Ngujima Yin FPSO telecoms upgrade projects, Quadrant Energy microwave radio implementation project, all Chevron Gorgon & Inpex Ichthys telecoms projects and the Woodside corporate HQ telecoms and IT fit-out.

Mitchell Hart

Certificate III in Electronics and Radio Communications and Certificate III in Digital Servicing. Experienced in Construction, Commissioning and Operational Front-Line Maintenance and servicing in the Oil & Gas Industry. Trade trained on Woodside’s Northwest shelf facilities, including onshore and offshore. Post trade experience on Chevron’s Wheatstone Upstream LNG and INPEX Darwin LNG Plant. Recent experience in Iron Ore mining operations at Rio-Tinto’s Pilbara Rail and Ports, and most recently Fortescue Metals Group’s Chichester Hub operations.

Nikki Krachler

BEng (Electrical and Electronic, Hons, 2007), BSc (Applied and Discrete Mathematics, 2007). 10 years engineering experience encompassing detailed design, installation support and commissioning in the Oil & Gas Industry (offshore and onshore). Experience in systems design, site installation, hook-up and commissioning in telecommunication systems including LAN/WAN, PABX, Microwave, Radar, Radio, Fibre Optic, CCTV, PAGA and Satellite. Extensive exposure to inter-facility design, equipment selection and system performance to ensure consistency across telecommunication systems. Software skill set includes Mentum Planet and Mentum Ellipse, used for radio signal modelling. Joined WNA in May 2020, currently embedded in the Woodside Telecommunications Project Engineering Team.

B.Eng (Computer System and Network Engineering) MIEAust, Trade Open Registered Cabler, technically savvy System Consultant with over 9+ years’ experience in Pre-Sales(RFI,RFP,RFT), Vendor SoW assessment, Technical Project Management and Solution Architecture, in various industry segments including Onshore/Offshore Oil & Gas, Defence and Carrier Telecommunication projects in Australia. Communications systems experience includes LAN/WAN, Structured Cabling Systems (Coaxial, Copper, Fibre), CCTV, Access Control System (ACS) UHF/VHF trunked radio (TETRA/P25/DMR), UHF/VHF conventional radio, Intrusion Detection Systems (FOIDS), Radar, Joined WNA in March 2020 and currently embedded within the INPEX communications team.

Owen Esmaeili

MIEAust, BSc in Electronics Engineering, MSc in EMSE. Currently studying towards PMP & RCDD.
From 2000, experience in telecoms & OT fields including: Microwave, UHF, VHF, VSAT, LTE-A, PDH, SDH, DWDM, OTN, GPON, FTTx, open structured cabling and radio remote console. Responsible for project delivery through the whole lifecycles.
Formerly worked at TCI, NBN Co, and subcontractor for BHP, Telstra, Optus, SP Ausnet, VHA, Nokia and Rio Tinto.

Peter van Hyum

Electrical trade trained and an ACMA Registered Cabler with 19 years in underground mining to Shift Supervisor level. From 1990 has been mainly involved in IT and Telecommunications at WMC Resources Kambalda Nickel Operations, 1998-2001 as IT Superintendent for WMC Queensland Fertiliser Operations and from 2001-2004 as WMC Manager Desktop Sustain. Since October 2004 with WNA as project engineer/coordinator on a range of communications and IT infrastructure projects, SAP Plant Maintenance Resource Estimation in Woodside Campaign Maintenance team.

Rahul Naidu

Reid Gillard

Radio communications technician experienced in designing and installing customer specific voice and data communications systems on remote Oil & Gas production installations.  Experienced in installation & commissioning of PTP microwave links, stabilized satellite systems for dynamic platforms, VoIP based radio console systems, structured cabling & Cisco network infrastructure, IT systems including the build, setup & management of Microsoft Hyper-V based virtualisation servers, SQL database management, SNMP monitoring servers and end user support of both Apple and Microsoft systems. Experience working with a wide selection of personal portable voice radios, fixed onshore & offshore inter-site microwave systems including between onshore and dynamic facilities such as ships and exploration semi-submersibles.
Joined WNA in December 2017 and currently employed in a Senior Technician role on various offshore deployments.

Self-motivated, highly organised technical manager 25+ years of industry experience in management, supervision, planning, execution and maintenance of converged and complex communications systems. Experience in Commercial, Defence, Mining, NGO and Oil & Gas industries. Experience across multiple technologies and systems including Microwave, Satellite Earth Stations, HF, VHF, UHF radio systems and infrastructure, CCTV, Structured Cabling, PLC’s, Multiplexers, Windows & Linux/Unix software systems, UPS, Remote Power Systems, IP Switching & Routing and Towers . Robert Lutz

Diploma of Electrotechnology 2010. Eight years experience in telecommunications maintenance with Western Power, fault-finding and commissioning transmission and distribution telecommunication systems for SOCC and SCADA customers. Systems experience include VHF, UHF SCADA circuits and 2-way radio (Spectra, TAIT and Schneider). Experience in commissioning and fault-finding of PDH/SDH microwave radios (Ceragon, SAGEM, SIAE) and circuit programming of TDM equipment (Nokia, Keymile), Teleprotection Signalling (DEWAR, DIMAT) and structured cabling and DC systems.

Engineering/Project skills in engineering design (high level and detailed), documentation, Tendor document compilation and evaluation, coding/configuration, FEED, FAT, SAT, Commissioning, Maintenance, Operational Acceptance, Process Optimisation & Business Improvement initiatives. Experienced Leadership and management skills for operating businesses & Project Management having completed many leadership roles and training programs with Origin Energy (CSG).

Roger Cowell

Project/Construction Manager with 28 years’ experience in corporate Telecommunications and IT Infrastructure projects, including HR, Budget, Scheduling, HSE, Stakeholder, Contractor, Compliance and Implementation  management.  Skilled in networking,  upward and downward expectation management.  Technical skills in Cisco networking (CCNA certified 1992).  Worked on Kentz Gorgon project and 2 stints with BP Exploration and British Telecom (UK).  Joined WNA in April 2020 and has worked on Atlas Iron Corunna Downs project, BFS study for operation startup for BCI Minerals, Mardie Salt & Potash project and currently AGIG DBP microwave upgrade project.

Ruary Mackenzie

Qualified as an electronic communications systems technician, Restricted Electrical Licence (WA).  Worked with Philips Communications, RAAF, Philips Scientific & Industrial, RLM on Jindalee Over Horizon Radar project, BHP & Rio Tinto.  Experienced with Satellite Earth Stations, HF, VHF, UHF radio systems and infrastructure, Micro Wave Radio, Crypto equipment, Analytical X-ray and Electron microscopy (STEM and TEM), CCTV, Fibre Optic Cabling, Microwave Radio, Boom Gates, PLC’s, Multiplexers, Wheel Impact Monitor, Direct Loco Control, HXP3 Rail Crossing detector, SCADA system programming, Railway Signalling Systems, Unix software systems, FDDI Ring, UPS, and some minor experience with robotics and load cells. Hands on experience in erecting communications towers.  Familiar with software systems Citec, Bitlab, KepServerEx, CNMS-NG, SolarWinds and PTRG.   Joined WNA in September 2018.

Communications systems experience includes LAN/WAN, SDH, UHF TETRA, VHF radio, microwave, CCTV, access control, FOIDS, PBX, PAGA, structured cabling (copper, fibre), power systems, earthing. Joined WNA in August 2011 and currently engaged on BHPIO communications/asset protection projects.

BEng Electrical – Communications (UWA 1978). 36+ years’ experience in telecommunications with Department of Communications, Australian Broadcasting Authority, Gibson Quai-AAS, Kellogg Joint Venture – Gorgon and INPEX.  10 years Oil & Gas experience with Gorgon LNG Project and Ichthys LNG Project (Yokohama & Darwin) including LAN/WAN & telephony, UHF TETRA mobile radio, radio consoles, PAGA, CCTV, RADAR, VSAT, IDS, access control, microwave links.  Radio coverage/path planning (Planet and Pathloss) for mobile radio, broadcasting and microwave and UHF link services.  Infrastructure – towers, cabling and cabinets, maritime and aeronautical radio, telecoms network management, meteorological and oceanographic systems, wireless LAN and personnel location.  Project management incl: FAT & SIT testing; verifying database records for equipment; witnessing/signing off the completion of Commissioning ITRs; conducting Ready for Commissioning (RFC) and Ready for Start Up (RFSU) walk down inspections; checking and signing off RFC and RFSU dossiers, Punch List Items; witnessing OTPs and SAT testing; liaison with Operations, monitoring Contractor performance & deviation requests.  Joined WNA October 2018. Electrical / Instrument Fitter and SAP Master Data Specialist with a good working knowledge in Process Safety, Performance Standards, Regulatory Requirements, Maintenance Strategies and Engineering Standards.
Extensive SAP experience in nickel & gold mining organisations and past 20 years in Oil & Gas, primarily at Woodside. Major roles in Woodside SAP PM Project, NWS Offshore Campaign Lead Planner, Transfield Worley Brownfields SAP Team Lead, SAP PM Maintenance Specialist for IPF, KGP SCEMP SAP PM Team Leader and Maintenance Business & Data Specialist for Pluto Project. Most recently worked in the Woodside KGP Maintenance Strategy Project 2.
