BAE Systems 2 years– Project based work installing communications, PA/GA, navigation, meteorological systems to Woodside PLUTO (Onshore gas plant), ENI Petroleum BLACKTIP (Onshore plant and offshore platform), BHP Petroleum (FPSO’s Pyrenees Venture).

Bela Boros

B. Sc (Telecommunications), MIEEE. Has 40 years’ experience in the telecomms industry in design engineering, project management, advisory services and other managerial roles overseas and in Australia. Clients have included state railways, mining companies, carriers, police and other government services, utilities and private companies. Skills include mobile radio (analogue, TETRA, WiMAX, P25, MPT1327), radio propagation studies, GPS/AVL, microwave link design, radars, satellite communications, DWDM, SDH and PDH, IP networking, mobile and fixed data systems, network management, communications power systems. Employed by Ansaldo STS from 2001-2014. Joined WNA in Feb 2014.

Ben Raven

Diploma of Project Management 2009. 17 years telecommunications industry experience with Telstra. Including 14 years as comms technician and 3 years as WA radio team manager with project manager functionality of various telecommunication systems; PDH & SDH point to point microwave, Next G mobiles RBS, CAN radio, Via-sat satellite systems and structure maintenance programs. Joined WNA in August 2011 and was responsible for the successful implementation and commissioning of telecoms systems for the BHPBIO Goldsworthy Main Line (rail). Currently full time with Woodside in the Digital Projects team on a range of brownfields projects.

Bob Millman

M Sc (Electrical Engineering) 1988. B Eng (Electronic) 1977. Has 40 years experience including project management, contract management, site supervision, design, specifications for a broad range of telecoms activities. Recent projects include BHP Iron Ore RGP5 project, radio design engineer within Rio Tinto IS&T group, Chevron Gorgon project and INPEX Ichthys project. Currently full time with Woodside in the Digital Projects team on a range of brownfields projects.

Brian Fury

MIEEE, Diploma in Electronic Engineering. A telecommunications specialist with extensive experience in engineering design and construction of fixed and mobile communications systems. Specific responsibilities have included system / facility design, preparation of technical specifications, development of procurement specifications and work scopes, project cost estimation, planning / scheduling and project management. Experience includes coaxial, optical fibre, microwave and satellite transmission systems and associated multiplexing systems, fixed and mobile radio networks, IP based LAN/WAN, switched voice, CCTV, access control and entertainment systems and associated support infrastructure such as electrical power systems, buildings and towers. Experience with major projects in carrier, resources and rail transportation communications. Most recent roles as senior and lead communications engineer for BHP Billiton mine development projects in Western Australia. Commenced with WNA in December 2012.

Conrad Bastian

B. Sc (Physics, 1995), B. Eng (Electrical & Electronic, FC Hons, 1997), Adv Dip Project Management (2007). Electronic Engineer & Project Manager with 13 years experience in the design and construction of IP, SDH, PDH and DWDM optic fibre networks, 3G cellular networks, RF systems, and point-to-point wireless networks. Management and engineering of a wide range of projects for Telstra, NewMetroRail, WestNetRail, Water Corporation, Alstom, Amcom, BHPB, and Rio Tinto. Joined WNA in April 2011. Work has included radio design activities for Chevron, BHP Billiton, Atlas Iron and accommodation village telecoms design for Chevron. Currently full time with Woodside in the Digital Projects team on a range of brownfields projects.

Campbell Hall

B. Eng (1985). Post Grad Diploma of Project Management (2001). 20 years telecoms industry experience with Telstra in engineering, project management and service management roles. Since March 2005 with WNA in project engineering roles including lead telecoms engineer for Lycopodium Newmont projects in Ghana, Ansaldo Signal FMG Rail project and Calibre/BHPBIO RGP5/6 Rail Projects. Most recently completed the Chevron Wheatstone project as the lead Telecoms Commissioning Engineer. Communication systems experience in DWDM/SDH/PDH transmission systems, IP LAN/WLAN networks, CCTV, microwave radio, Tetra radio, PAGA, access control, optical fibre and power infrastructure. Currently full time with Woodside in the Digital Projects team on a range of brownfields projects.

David Green

Radio & Television Mechanic Trade Certification (1988). Thirty (30) years onshore and offshore telecommunications maintenance experience with service companies such as AWA Electronics, Navcom Electronics, Darwin utilities (PAWA, NT Electricity Commission) and with MARCOMM for 13 years, predominantly supporting and servicing multiple operators in the offshore O&G industry. Experienced in the installation and servicing of systems such as Radars, Echo Sounders, Autopilots, Gyrocompasses, HF, VHF and UHF transceivers, PAGA systems, Aviation headsets, HF radio systems, HF, VHF and UHF Antennas, SATCOM equipment, EPIRBs, GPS Receivers, NDB systems, PBX systems, ROV systems and marine instrumentation. Three (3) years as an ROV Pilot Technician and Subsea Tooling Technician/Supervisor working in the O&G industry. Most recent experience maintaining and supporting Chevron’s telecommunications systems for WA Oil and Gorgon Operations on Barrow Island and on Wheatstone Platform including DAMM and Rohill TETRA Base Stations, Sepura TETRA Radio Manager, Mobiles and Portables, Tait VHF Land Mobile and VHF Marine Repeaters and Base Stations, Motorola VHF and UHF Repeaters, Mobiles and Portables, Cisco LAN/WAN/IP Telephony systems support, Structured Cabling, Gaitronics PAGA, Kelvin Hughes RADAR, CCTV, VHF Paging, UHF Telemetry, Aviat and Ericsson Digital Microwave Radio Links, Met Ocean systems, VSAT and Entertainment systems. Interpersonal strengths include team leading and building, supervision and management, including aspects of business management. Excellent technical troubleshooting and communications skills and an understanding of applicable standards with a sound familiarity of safety and O&G industry processes and associated requirements. Joined WNA in August 2018 as a Telecommunications Technician. Currently full time Telecommunications Technician for Shell Prelude FLNG facility..

Davide Ciotti

20 years with Robe River Iron Associates/North Ltd including two years as Manager IT (1997-1999), and 12 months as IT Technology Advisor (2000). Since 2001 with WNA. From 2001-2006 on full time contract to Normandy/Newmont Mining. Project management for CP Mining IT group supplied communications for the Cape Preston Mining Project completed April 08. Project management of comms for the Oxiana Prominent Hill project. Has ‘General Manager’ role within WNA besides overseeing various works including ICT Management for Western Areas and WNA involvement in Atlas Iron projects.

Gary Cooper

Radio Technician since 1981, and worked on the North Rankin “A” project from 1983 after leaving the Australian Army. Recently finished off projects for Inpex CPF and FPSO in South Korean shipyards and based in Asia for over 16 years, doing similar projects in various shipyards and final destinations around the globe.
Over 30 years experience in most Communications systems used in Maritime, Oil & Gas facilities, covering many different needs and trends around the globe, that have evolved since the early 1980’s. Projects include Pacific Mistral drillship in Rio de Janerio, 2012, Stena Forth Drillship, 2010 – 2011, Greenland and Egypt.
Wengchang Oil Field Platforms HUC – China 2009, plus various projects for Petro Vietnam 2005 – 2014.
Now based in Perth WA, joined WNA in June 2017 working on the Chevron Wheatstone Platform, IT and Telecommunications support for Chevron, and HUC teams Clough, Edde Fides and EPIC networks.

Graeme Busch

Advanced Telecommunications Certificate 1975 (NZ). 40+ years experience in telecommunications with Telecom New Zealand, Optus Communications (16 years), Woodside, BHP Billiton Petroleum & Iron Ore, FMG, Chevron Wheatstone, QCLNG, INPEX Icthys project.  Wide range of experience in IP networking including LAN (incl. WIFI), WAN, VOIP Telephony, Automatic Mustering System, CCTV, Emergency Voice Recorder, Entertainment System (IPTV), Environmental monitoring System, Structured cabling including extensive Fibre Optic Cable Networks, Line of Sight Microwave systems, PAGA, RADAR, Telecoms Power Monitoring, Temporary Communications Systems & VSAT. Various offshore and shipyard roles including construction, commissioning and refurbishment.
Joined WNA in 2008 and currently embedded with the Woodside Digital team on brownfields Communications projects.


Greg Kane

A trained RAAF Radio Technician with 9 years of military experience. Has 40 years post military experience in radio and telecommunication system maintenance, design, installation and commissioning. With WNA since January 2010 providing consulting services to major government, petro-chemical and mining companies in migrating their radio communication needs from legacy analogue to state-of-the-art digital radio communication systems. Technical writing specialist for development of scopes, specifications, tender documents, and project management, maintenance & training plans for new digital radio systems.

Hrvoje Blaskovic

Associate of Science – Computer Technology (Montana Uni – 2003), Cisco certified network engineer with a wide skill set and 15 years experience in network engineering and system administration. Primarily Cisco based routing, firewalling & switching, network design, implementation and support, with good understanding of the Cisco CLI and the full suite of Cisco networking protocols. Experienced with Microwave and Wireless systems, fibre and hybrid fibre/coaxial network interconnection and operations, DOCSIS and HFC technologies, Server & Desktop hardware maintenance, end user support, user and technical training, NOC & ISP operations. Working toward a Cisco CCNP certification. Joined WNA in November 2016 and currently embedded at Atlas Iron in a Network Engineering and Support role.

Ian Cleverley

Diploma of Electronics & Communications Engineering – CIT, Mt Lawley, WA. 36 years’ telecommunications experience for the Australian DOD internationally, offshore oil and gas, civil aviation and public transport sectors. Specialist training in maintaining critical air traffic control, aviation telecommunications, radio systems, microwave bearers, multiplexing, audio systems and consoles, RADAR & radio navigation services, CCTV systems, building fire alarm systems and airport terminal PA systems. Experienced with Ericsson PBX systems, Cisco IP Telephony and WIFI, UHF/VHF radio systems including combining and filtering structures from various vendors, NAVAID beacons, security and operational video, entertainment and environmental systems, telemetry/SCADA/PLC systems, DC power systems including solar and usage of a wide range of communications test equipment, Solarwinds Orion NMS and Engineers Toolkit. BCL with S & O endorsement, National REWL, ITIL Cert in ICT Service Management, Cert IV Training & Assessment, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP-R&S and CCNP-S). Various vendor certifications in communications systems. Qualified Oil & Gas Emergency Response Team Leader with 13 years’ field experience and 3 years as volunteer WA SES Communications Section Leader. Awarded Chevron Recognition and Oil Search Appreciation awards for Emergency Response activities at Agogo Sink Hole (2003) and Moran Helo Incident (2006). Joined WNA in January 2017 and currently full time telecommunications technician for Shell Prelude FLNG facility.

Jack Louis

Certificate in Electronic Servicing and Communications, through Energy Apprenticeship Group at Woodside for 4 years, with a continuation as a technician for 2 years with Woodside. Specialising in Radio Communications, CCTV, PAGA, Radar and VSAT with work split between the onshore and offshore facilities. Commenced with WNA in March 2015 for Woodside Energy as a Telecommunication Technician on the Campaign Maintenance Team.

Karl Isbell

B.Sc. (1996) Mathematics with Engineering. CCNP, ITIL and certified for hazardous area design. Over 20 years networking and telecommunication experience in a wide range of industries. Initially in the City of London and the last 15 years in the Oil/Gas and Mining industry in Australia. Experience in a broad range of networking infrastructure on large projects as well as a great understanding of end systems such as CCTV, PA, Access Control, Fire and Life Safety, Navigation and radio systems. Currently employed as a Telecommunication Consultant on the Inpex Ichthys LNG project. Joined WNA in March 2018.

Kerrin McLevie

Grad Cert (Business Systems), currently studying Masters in Information Technology. 20 years IT experience, across government, mining, construction, and manufacturing sectors, providing support to locations across the globe. VMware, AD, Exchange, SharePoint, Microsoft Server, and Cisco network experience. Commenced with WNA in January 2014.

Mike Halasz

Electronic Servicing and Radio Communications Trade Certificate. Fifteen (15) years onshore and offshore Oil and Gas experience with Apache, BHP Petroleum, Chevron, Woodside and others. Excellent technical communication skills & understanding of applicable standards, safety and O&G industry processes and related requirements. Aviation industry system equipment experience, including bench testing & fault finding in aeronautical and other systems. Interpersonal strengths include Quality, Safety, Team building and Contractor management. Wide exposure to systems such as PAGA, CCTV, LAN/WAN, VOIP & conventional PBX systems, Radar, VHF & UHF conventional and trunked radio systems, fibre & radio based Emergency Shut Down (ESD) systems, digital microwave, and SCADA & telemetry systems. Joined WNA in July 2015 as a Telecommunications Technician within the Woodside Energy Campaign Maintenance Team. Currently full time telecommunications technician for Shell Prelude FLNG facility.

Mike Hogg

MIEAust, CP Eng, BSc. Considerable professional experience in telecoms and electrical / electronic engineering fields, including Control & Instrumentation, Automation Systems, Remote Telemetry, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Microwave Radio Systems, CCTV Systems, Fire and Life Safety Systems, IPTV Entertainment Systems, Access Control and Security Monitoring Systems and a variety of industrial wireless systems. Has worked for Miri Technologies, Thales, Motherwell Automation, Kentz/SNC Lavalin. After joining WNA in July 2012 Mike has worked on numerous telecom and IT projects embedded with our major clients including CSBP (TETRA radio system implementation), Woodside Ngujima Yin FPSO telecoms upgrade projects, Quadrant Energy microwave radio implementation project, all Chevron Gorgon & Inpex Ichthys telecoms projects and the Woodside corporate HQ telecoms and IT fit-out.

Paul Weall

B. Eng Communications (1987). 30 years (7 years Oil & Gas) telecoms industry experience with Curtin University, Barret Communications, Australian Defence Industries, Boeing Defence Australia, ADI Brown & Root & Kentz (Gorgon Project). Worked in various roles as Research Associate, R&D Engineer, Technical Officer, Project Engineer, Project Team Lead, Operations Supervisor & Commissioning Manager.
Experienced in, IT Systems including VOIP & IP Video, Hazardous Area Telephony, Core & Access Network Systems UPS Systems, PAGA, Fire Suppression, Entertainment, Microwave Radio, RADAR, VTS/AIS, TETRA, VHF & HF Radio & Console systems, CCTV, VSAT and Meteorological Systems. Joined WNA in October 2018. Currently embedded with the Woodside Digital team on brownfields Communications projects.

Peter van Hyum

Electrical trade trained and an ACMA Registered Cabler with 19 years in underground mining to Shift Supervisor level. From 1990 has been mainly involved in IT and Telecommunications at WMC Resources Kambalda Nickel Operations, 1998-2001 as IT Superintendent for WMC Queensland Fertiliser Operations and from 2001-2004 as WMC Manager Desktop Sustain. Since October 2004 with WNA as project engineer/coordinator on a range of communications and IT infrastructure projects, SAP Plant Maintenance Resource Estimation in Woodside Campaign Maintenance team.

Reid Gillard

Radio communications technician experienced in designing and installing customer specific voice and data communications systems on remote Oil & Gas production installations.

Experienced in installation & commissioning of PTP microwave links, stabilized satellite systems for dynamic platforms, VoIP based radio console systems, structured cabling & Cisco network infrastructure, IT systems including the build, setup & management of Microsoft Hyper-V based virtualisation servers, SQL database management, SNMP monitoring servers and end user support of both Apple and Microsoft systems. Experience working with a wide selection of personal portable voice radios, fixed onshore & offshore inter-site microwave systems including between onshore and dynamic facilities such as ships and exploration semi-submersibles. Joined WNA in December 2017 and currently employed in a Senior Technician role on various offshore deployments.

Rick Newman

B. Eng (1981). Ten years on north west shelf project and five years with WMC Resources before starting Walker Newman and Associates in 1995. Telecommunications strategic consulting, project management, communications infrastructure design, radio, PABX. Principle engineer and Director of WNA. Daily workload cuts across a range of WNA projects.

Ruary Mackenzie

Completed apprenticeship as an electronic communications systems technician.  Worked with Philips Communications, RAAF, Philips Scientific & Industrial, RLM on Jindalee Over Horizon Radar project, BHP & Rio Tinto.

Experienced with Satellite Earth Stations, HF, VHF, UHF radio systems and infrastructure, Micro Wave Radio, Crypto equipment, Analytical X-ray and Electron microscopy (STEM and TEM), CCTV, Fibre Optic Cabling, Microwave Radio, Boom Gates, PLC’s, Multiplexers, Wheel Impact Monitor, Direct Loco Control, HXP3 Rail Crossing detector, SCADA system programming, Railway Signalling Systems, Unix software systems, FDDI Ring, UPS, and some minor experience with robotics and load cells. Hands on experience in erecting communications towers.  Familiar with software systems Citec, Bitlab, KepServerEx, CNMS-NG, SolarWinds and PTRG.   Joined WNA in September 2018.

Stephan de Blanken

Diploma of Information Technology-Technical User Support (1999). 13 years experience in IT Hardware & Software Support for Back end and Desktop systems, including implementation and maintenance of server virtualisation technologies, blade servers, SAN storage systems, Exchange implementation & user management, SQL server & user management and general support of a 150 end user base. Formal structured training in Microsoft Exchange 2007, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Implementation and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Maintenance. Proficient in Windows OS’ to Server 20012 R2, ISA, WSUS, Dynamics and associated network sub systems, Win 7 desktop, Windows Office. Promoted to Team Leader in 2011. Joined WNA in November 2016 and currently embedded at Atlas Iron in a Systems Engineer role.

Over 25 years’ experience encompassing Technical Project Management, Communications and business solutions consulting, Management-Technical interfacing, Systems architecture & design (UC), Project & governance documentation, Event management, Logistics planning, Business development, Business process analysis, Management & team leadership, Financial accounting, Aircraft systems maintenance. Since June 2011 with WNA.

Terry Hodgman

B.Bus (2001), Communications Technical Officer, ACMA Registered Cabler. 35 years experience in the communications industry including 31years with Telecom/Telstra as a Technical Officer and Team Manager covering a wide range of equipment-small capacity radio systems, solar power installation and maintenance, data cabling design and installation, equipment maintenance programs, PABX and Small business systems, Satellite broadband, PDH/SDH Transmission equipment. 3 years with BHPIO Communications working on transmission & mobile radio systems and railway asset protection equipment. Joined WNA in August 2011 and currently engaged on BHPIO communications/asset protection projects.
